Downside to Today's Enticing Technology

It's tough enough to manage safely day in and out driving one's vehicle without incident on the overcrowded roads of America, but added with today's obsession with teens and text messaging the combination is simply a death wish for even the most experienced drivers. Nobody can safely text and drive at the same time, NOBODY except of coarse a passenger.

Talking on the phones is bad enough, but a better option than texting, that's for sure.

I'm sorry to sound cold, but to me using these incredible devices that one can simply talk into and listen with as they were designed can be distracting enough, but when instead used for typing little cryptic messages back and forth is such a stupidly distracting and cumbersome activity I still cannot understand the appeal of this to people. Maybe sending messages in between classrooms and similar situations, ok I get the lure of that for kids, but when driving a car, sorry.

As to how and why people do this with cells and blackberries when not absolutely necessary simply drives me crazy. They're phones and I use em to talk with, not type again unless absolutely necessary. That's what our computer at our desks and laptops are for. I've never sent a text message once yet in years of phones usage and cringe when people send them to me instead of just calling.

And this terrible tragedy below is just another major reason why this senseless activity while driving is just ridiculously dangerous, tantamount to driving with ones eyes closed if you ask me. Adults need to set an example and stop doing this, especially because kids simply won't do it voluntarily, even after a terrible and totally unnecessary loss like this below...

May these poor lost teenage girls rest in peace, Their families and friends must be simply devastated today losing such beau9tiful young lives over such a stupid unneeded text message. Imagine how the person who was sending it must feel today..
