Innocent Joke Or Over The Edge Pedophilic Remark?

Nowadays one cannot tell even amongst friends and family whether or not remarks made to or around children are appropriate or not. This is particularly true with strangers now more than ever.

It seems a very popular children's book author is finding this out the hard way and may have inadvertently disclosed his affinity for children goes beyond innocent books and his hundreds of school appearances with his dog by making an under any circumstances uncouth remark to an 11 year old girl and overheard by some adults.

I pray hopefully this is just a case of stupid-itis on his part and doesn't turn into an unearthed pedophile story who has been getting away with his "I just love children" schtick for too long. As I said, today society can be quite unforgiving but also quick to jump the gun when it comes to children and adult relationships, which is sad for the kids when the relationships are indeed just harmless adults that do simply love children more than most.
Author banned after nudity remark
Baltimore Sun "A visit to an elementary school didn't have a fairytale ending for a Baltimore children's book writer after he made what he says was a joking comment to a 10-year-old that she should take off her clothes if she wanted his autograph on her face as she requested, The Baltimore Sun reported."
A Baltimore-area author of children's books has been banned from visiting Harford County public schools after publicly suggesting that a 10-year-old girl disrobe during a visit to her school, a comment the author said was a quip that was taken out of context.

Author Richard Lynn Stack, a former lawyer who visits schools around the country with his dogs, was at Abingdon Elementary School on April 16 for an event when a student asked Stack to autograph her forehead, said Don Morrison, a spokesman for the county school system.

Morrison said that parents of students who were nearby reported two days later that Stack responded by saying he would give the student an autograph if she climbed on a lunch table and took off her clothes. Stack told school officials he was making an absurd comment in response to the student's unusual request, Morrison said. read more
