Maybe It's Time To Toughen Requirements for Principal Jobs

Actually one could argue that the whole teaching profession is so starved for talent that it is forced to lower the standards it utilizes in order to fill the jobs in a profession that can at times be overwhelming in many ways for compensation that can be underwhelming to say the least.

This would go a long way to explaining the seemingly endless rash of criminal behavior being documented as of late attributable to the teaching profession and it's bad apples mostly in the form of sexual abuse cases including male teachers as well as female ones.

Now it seems we can add even the upper echelon of the school job flow chart as in just this past week two school principals have been charged with buying buying and distributing drugs in schools on school property during school hours. The first one I blogged about last week and can be found here, a crack using principal who purchased the crack from an undercover cop on the school grounds albeit a mere hour after classes left for the day. He is presently facing drug charges and we can bet that removal from his job will not be an easy proposition thanks to the teacher's unions.

The second offender is below and this time the perpetrator is a dealing meth head.
Pa. Principal Accused of Selling Meth:

My Way News - "BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) - A middle school principal accused of selling crystal methamphetamine from his office after school and on weekends was arrested after police found the drug on his desk, authorities said Wednesday.

There was no indication that John Acerra sold the drug to students at Nitschmann Middle School, where he was arrested Tuesday, said Dennis Mihalopoulos, an agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Police said they began investigating Acerra in early February after an informant told them the principal was using and distributing the drug.

Acerra, 50, who was in custody in lieu of bail, has an unlisted phone number, and it wasn't clear whether he had an attorney. No one answered the door Wednesday at his modest rowhouse along a narrow alley in Allentown." read more
