I have always supported this charity because of it's simplicity in what it does, no frills, just toys for kids that need them and desperately want them. And it's run by the Marine Corps, how much better can you get than that for a management team?
Anything that goes straight to the children I'm all for. It's when you give the money to the adults to take care of the problems they end up taking care of anything and everything but the problems, and always end up with something for themselves sadly but surely.
As they always say, "KISS, or Keep It Simple Stupid". So at Christmas time I do my best to aid 2 organizations first and foremost, Toys for Tots and The Good Old Salvation Army, and don't forget to shop and eat all you can at Denny's & Target as they still allow the Salvation Army to collect during Christmas in spite of all the leftist commie PC do-gooder pressure to not do so.
Walmart has "welcomed" them back this year ( gee, what a freaking honor, but for the money alright ), but they are still in my penalty box for that maneuver in the first place, as well as the other one they pulled this year just has me shopping elsewhere, not as a result of me joining any boycott except my own personal one.
DefenseLink News Article: Marines Continue Tradition of Giving Through ‘Toys for Tots’ Program: "WASHINGTON, Nov. 29, 2006 – The Marine Corps is renowned for its fighting ability, but the organization also is famous for its nearly 60-year tradition of ensuring needy children don’t have empty Christmas stockings.
The “Toys for Tots” program began in the fall of 1947 when a group of Marine Reservists based in Los Angeles collected and delivered 5,000 toys to local needy children, according to the Toys for Tots’ non-profit foundation Web site.
Toys for Tots distributed $200 million worth of new toys to more than 7 million needy children in 2005, Bill Grein, vice president for marketing and development for the Toys for Tots’ foundation, said during a telephone interview with American Forces Press Service. Grein’s office is located at Quantico Marine Corps Base, Va.
More than 550 Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots distribution centers are located across the country, Grein said, noting the program’s busy time starts after Thanksgiving and runs right up to Christmas. Collected toys are distributed through local social welfare agencies and other organizations. " please read more
