And for people to not take responsiblity for their own behavior. Add this to the growing number of new millenium "psychoses" to keep those therapy bills rolling in as the medical community looks for new ways to add to the bottom line in my opinion. And for people to take less and less responsibilty for ramications of their own behavior. Like Mark Foley or Mel Gibson for instance; Foley is uncovered as a homosexual internet predator of sorts, Gibson as a anti-semite and all of a sudden alcohol made them do it, sexual abuse or both, whatever. So 30 days at a $5000 a month detox or rehab center plus a few scripts and voila! they're cured.
Maybe the attention should be paid to the underlying causes of these problems as opposed to the symptoms, as the medical and pharmacuetical industry will surely be investigating and initiating more studies in order to unleash the newest round of "Internesta" or "Onlinebien" at the local pharmacy for those internet addicts that cannot stay away from the computer.
This is similar to the some in that community labeling BDS a real disease after the election of 2004 when all the poor dems couldn't get over George Bush's victory over Kerry who needed to blame their sunsequent nearly psychotic behavior on something other than pure goofiness.
Want the cure for this "disease"? Unplug the computer and ISP. Pull out two cords and call me in the morning. Done.. your cured.Maybe the attention should be paid to the underlying causes of these problems as opposed to the symptoms, as the medical and pharmacuetical industry will surely be investigating and initiating more studies in order to unleash the newest round of "Internesta" or "Onlinebien" at the local pharmacy for those internet addicts that cannot stay away from the computer.

BREITBART.COM - US full of Internet addicts: study: "The United States could be rife with Internet addicts as clinically ill as alcoholics, an unprecedented study released suggested.
Researchers at Stanford University School of Medicine in Silicon Valley said their telephone survey indicated more than one of every eight US residents showed at least one sign of 'problematic Internet use.'
The findings backed those of previous, less rigorous studies, according to Stanford.
Most disturbing was the discovery that some people hid their Internet surfing, or went online to cure foul moods in ways that mirrored alcoholics using booze, according to the study's lead author, Elias Aboujaoude."
