This is surprising sad news, as this guy was pretty funny I thought, and it was very interesting watching him do his thing. But swimming with the sharks and wrestling crocodiles is dangerous stuff, although it appears according to the very first report on his death shown below, he was killed by a stingray while filming a documentary of some sort. . RIP

After seeing or hearing what happened to him yesterday, it does show how lucky he was when nothing happened as he was performing the stunt with he and his child pictured below that he almost was criminally charged with.

Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin dies WORLD NEWS tvnz.co.nz: "Television personality and environmentalist Steve Irwin has died in a marine accident in north Queensland, state government sources say.
It is understood Irwin, 44, was killed by a sting-ray barb that went through his chest while swimming off the Low Isles at Port Douglas where he was filming an underwater documentary.
Ambulance officers confirmed they attended a fatality.
Irwin was known for his Animal Planet series The Crocodile Hunter, and is the director of the Australia Zoo in Queensland.
Irwin is survived by his wife Terri, daughter Bindi, and son Bob.
