Naturally, being in Chicago this is always of some concern for all and the building is about as safe as it can be made without closing it, as is evident when one visits the towers as I do frequently, or for those who work in them as a member of my family does. This building is visible from my home in the Northwest suburbs on a clear day so I see it daily, as were the twin towers ironically when I was a youngster growing up in New Jersey back in 1973-1978.
This threat and others like them will no doubt be a part of all our lives from here to eternity, so staying the course in the middle east, by that I mean killing as many terrorists as our military can manage will have to do until the next generation of would be Jihadders are either reformed or killed as well. Surely a very large and daunting job.
But until that day of solace comes if ever, we'll just have to keep stomping on them like the cockroaches that they are, like was done today in Miami.
Statement from Sears Tower: "CHICAGO, June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- 'It would be inappropriate for us to confirm or deny details of news reports about federal law enforcement action before an official statement from the Justice Department.
'However, Sears Tower security officials regularly speak with the FBI and local law enforcement authorities who track and investigate terrorism threats. Today was no exception. Despite new information, law enforcement continues to tell us that they have never found evidence of a credible terrorism threat against Sears Tower that has gone beyond criminal discussions.
'Among commercial office buildings, Sears Tower sets the standard for security. We have implemented many measures -- both visible and behind-the-scenes -- to protect the building. Our officers are among the most highly skilled of any commercial office building, regularly receiving training from the city of Chicago, the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, the Secret Service and the FBI on topics ranging from how to detect people with ill intent, how to spot and react to a suspicious packages and how to respond to a fire until the Chicago Fire Department arrives.
'We place the highest priority on the safety and security of our tenants.'"Barbara Carley, Managing Director, Sears Tower
