I don't have any experience being a liberal, so I wouldn't know why one would or how one catches this disease in the first place, although according to the writer below, there does appear to be a cure for this terrible illness. He articulates the symptoms very well and what aided him in his recovery.
He is truly an inspiration for all chronic liberalism sufferers out there to aspire to, that they too can be cured.

RealClearPolitics - Articles - Why I Left The Left: "I used to be a liberal. I was in one of the first 'open' classrooms growing up in very progressive Great Neck, New York, in the 1960s. In 1971, when I was 11, I wrote vitriolic letters to President Nixon demanding an end to the Vietnam War.
My first vote, in 1980, was for Independent John Anderson, followed by Mondale, Dukakis, and Clinton-Gore. I read Thomas Friedman in the NY Times and tried to 'understand' the 'root causes' of the 'despair' he said the Palestinians felt that drove them to blow up innocent Israelis.
I wasn't an overtly political person - I just never veered from the liberal zeitgeist of the community in which I was raised." read more
I have a problem with all of these former lefties becoming Republican. It seems like most still bring a lot of their leftist nonsense with them. That's why our party doesn't act like conservatives anymore.
ReplyDeleteWhat good is it to have a majority when they act like Dems?
My real feeling on these converts is as follows: Most of them are actually not converts at all, just a conservative acting like a reformist or a liberal acting like one. They think that by professing conversion they can coax others to do the same.
ReplyDeleteI've been a conservative all my life and those are my principles, they don't change..
When the movement starts moving any further left, I leave the movement. Being conservative doesn't necessarily mean being a republican anyomore, as the leaders are abandoning the movement for political expediency. And they will pay for it you can be sure, jsut as the liberals have paid by losing election after election.
