New Buddy Guy's 'Legend's' Opening in Chicago

Blues lovers in Chicago have something to be excited about as Buddy Guy’s famous club "Legends" finally has a new place to call home after a decade.

The official opening date has yet to be announced because the place is up for inspection next week.  The 73-year-old owner and Grammy award winner expects to be up and running soon after, reported the Chicago Tribune.

The opening will hopefully be just in time for Chicago’s Blues Fest in Grant Park on June 11-13.

"I do worry about the blues; you look around and there used to be hundreds of blues clubs in Chicago, now there are only a few," Guy told the Tribune. "So this new place is going to be a great space for music, but I can see why some people see it as a blues museum too.  more at NBC5 News
This will quickly become "the place to be for Blues" as it re opens in a couple weeks after closing down most thought "for good" a decade ago. An opening that runs with the world renowned Chicago Blues Fest in June as well.

At least they're planning it that way.

Should be a fun place as anything can be downtown nowadays with all the costs involved before you walk in the door of these clubs but it won't have a problem filling up on weekends.

Rolling Stone Erased from Photographic History - Stop The Presses!

This is a strange development in one of the longest living rock bands in history who like any music act have had their ups and downs within the band, starting out right at the beginning of their ride with the mysterious death of who most consider the actual founder of the band in the bottom of his own pool, Brian Jones.

There's an interesting theory on what happened to him floating around out there if your interested and not aware, otherwise, this involves Bassist Bill Wyman who's been erased from their album covers from a re release in 2005/ Nobody even noticed this until now! Talk about blending into the background, huh?

He's a strange man by many accounts always chasing what we used to call "baby snapper" when we in high school and onward which doesn't help one's reputation nowadays of the liberal wished for "anything goes" culture that's bringing our society to it's knees .

The two print versions of the Stones re release again 5 years ago where Wyman is Photoshopped out of the pic as you can see between Jagger and the corpse of Keith Richards ...the photo is obviously from the early days but it was on the Rarities re release that's out of print now.

Rolling Stone Erased from Photographic History - Stop The Presses!: "Nobody seemed to notice five years ago when the Rolling Stones released their 2005 'Rarities' compilation, but this week, sharp-eyed Internet message board users pointed out that the album's cover photo is missing an important element of the original photograph: former bassist Bill Wyman.

Looking at the album cover side by side with the original picture, it's obvious that Wyman's image has been digitally removed, and somewhat sloppily at that. You can still see his bass cable hanging between Mick Jagger's microphone stand and guitar." Rolling Stone Erased from Photographic History - Stop The Presses!">continued

Pink Floyd Wins Lawsuit to Keep Albums From Being Sold Piecemeal Online

This a win for them in a number of ways and I say "good for them".

They created the music, and to see the record companies making billions even screwing their biggest and best acts out of money they and only they deserve. Something which has always been a bone of contention in this industry, particularly for Black artists early on, who's musical acts and songwriting were the very inspiration behind the "creation" of "rock and roll" .

And all most of them got was pretty much the royal shaft until Ray Charles came along, for the most part.

BRITAIN Pink Floyd: "This is Saturday July 2, 2005 file photo of Pink Floyd's Dave Gilmore, left, Roger Waters, second left, Nick Mason, second right, and Rick Wright, at the end of their set at the Live 8 concert in Hyde Park, London.

In a victory for the concept album, Britain's High Court on Thursday March 11, 2010 ordered record company EMI Group Ltd. to stop selling downloads of Pink Floyd tracks individually rather than as part of the band's original records. The rock group sued the music label, saying its contract prohibited selling the tracks 'unbundled' from their original album setting. (AP Photo/Lefteris Pitarakis, File)

The Who Rehearsing "Won't Get Fooled Again" For the Super Bowl Tonight (Video)

They're showing their age (just like me... :(  )   The video is of them practicing "Won't get fooled again" , which should be changed to the US national anthem after this last presidential election...although they'd have to tweak some lyrics though, like perhaps these new verses I jotted down:

"Meet the new boss; much worse than the old boss".   We won't Get Screwed Again.....

And this one....

The Change it had to come. we knew it all along, just cant believe the one they picked is so freakin' dumb.... Still the world looks just the same, and history ain't changed,  because the banner's, they all flew in the last wars....

There's nothing in the streets, looks any different to me, and slogans they are replaced by lies and lies

lolol

pretty good huh?  here's the real ones btw..

They should rewrite it as old men now, and that's probably the tone it would take with this Obama in office ...lol

I saw them a number of times back in the late 70's and 80's, and this rehearsal is just that, a rehearsal!  I'm sure tonight'll be a but tighter than this is ...However, It's good if you're a fan of the Who,  minus original members drummer Keith Moon a couple decades ago (3) then bassist John Entwistle passing more recently which I still am as long as Townsend stays away from that child porn crap....

Don't think we'll be seeing any "wardrobe malfunctions" during this halftime performance as Janet Jackson had  we all remember. How could we forget as that little Nip Slip has moved them into career boosters for the Hollywood and Music set ever since....

Need a little "pub" to get the career moving?

Just let a nipple show, make sure a camera sees it, and you're good for a couple thousand youtube hits from all the kids searching for porn all day and bloggers like me mocking  it....lol.....

(mature audience video btw.... at least it used to be)

Charlie Daniels suffers mild stroke

Both sad and good news from the Country Southern Rock world, and I DID NOT know Daniels was 73. Looks, sounds and acts like he's 50, who had  a stroke last Friday I guess, but is improving according to the report below.

BTW, That new GEICO commercial he has out is really great where saws on the fiddle of a roving restaurant  violinist. The caveman's done anyways, as no caveman could do it.

‘Fingerprints of God were all over my experience,’ singer writes on Web site

msnbc.com: "DURANGO, Colo. - Fiddler-guitarist Charlie Daniels said he suffered a mild stroke while snowmobiling in Colorado and has some stiffness and numbness in his left hand and arm.

Daniels, 73, suffered the stroke Friday just outside Durango, about 230 miles southwest of Denver. He was treated at a local hospital then airlifted to a Denver hospital, where he was released on Sunday.

In a posting on his Web site Wednesday, Daniels said he was starting physical therapy. He didn’t say whether his playing had been affected but wrote, “I’m doing fine.”"  continued

Teddy Pendergrass is dead at 59: the prince of Rhythm and Blues

I found a great post on the life of the singer from a blog on the SF Gate website which is well worth the read if you have the time, here's a little snippet of it and one of the youtube's of the 59 yr old singer's illustrious and groundbreaking career that  nearly came to a fatal end in 1982.

"On March 18, 1982, in Philadelphia, Teddy Pendergrass' Silver Spirit Rolls- Royce reportedly ran into a guardrail and into a bank of trees, leaving the singer partially paralyzed, angry and bitter...."

City Brights: Zennie Abraham :
"One of the most popular R&B singers of our time, Teddy Pendergrass is dead at 59 from colon cancer. EOnline explains that, Teddy Pendergrass - who's voice has been favorably compared to that of the late Barry White and called 'Teddy Bear' - had what his son Teddy, Jr. described as a rough recovery from surgery for colon cancer eight months ago. The music legend and signpost of the Zeitgeist died Wednesday at Bryn Mawr Hospital in Philadelphia, his home town."  continued

Father of Michael Jackson molestation accuser dead in Jersey City Apartment Nov 5th

This man Evan Chandler,  father of Jackson's initial accuser Jordy was a real piece of work it's starting to be confirmed as never before as from the sounds of things said in this article and around the internet, he wont be missed after offing himself a couple weeks ago. Why the public wasn't informed for weeks is a little unusual to say the least? How and why this was kept a secret is a story in itself I would think?.

Especially since this man and his son are probably the two most responsible people for the rapid and wicked unraveling of Michael Jackson's  mostly fairy tale life and career minus this ugly crap, and frankly I ALWAYS thought this family was full of **** from top to bottom and extorted the singer then and I believe onward.

My take is he (the father) must have run outta cash himself, and now that the Jackson cashcow is long dead, and his son Jordy, to the right who I believe was  put up to the Jackson scam, probably has trouble looking at himself in the mirror for quite some time (no Jackson man in the mirror pun intended, but it works) and that's what caused the severe rift within the family since that's covered in the story.

A guilty conscience sure can be a bitch to live with they say.....

I'm sure there's no sadness for his demise from the Jackson family and certainly not his fans, that much is evident from the cursory research I've done since Jackson's death on the internet and this morning in particular around the world

For instance story that's been around that indicates the then child lied about the abuse....and I would think anyone with a semblance of humanity would have trouble living with such a wicked web of lies these people seem to have concocted  ...Let me make clear  I'm not a Jackson sycophant by any means which you can verify by previous postings on the subject I've  composed over the years here, as I always thought he was screwed by these people as he was the ones that followed  ...

jackson and chandler in an old old picture from the time of the alleged abuse took place

I said then and always have ......"Welcome to Shakedown City"

There's an old saying that the only way three people can keep a secret is if two of them are dead.....Well that's two..... so maybe the kid comes clean now so he's not the next casualty with a gun in his mouth on the news next week or the week after.
Father of Michael Jackson molestation accuser found dead in Jersey City, New Jersey: "The father of the boy who once accused Michael Jackson of molestation has committed suicide, authorities said today.

Beverly Hills dentist Evan Chandler, 65, was found dead in Jersey City, NJ, in a luxury waterfront apartment.

A Jersey City official said Chandler was found in bed with a single gunshot wound to his head. He was still holding the gun when the body was found.

A source confirmed the death, which occurred on Nov. 5.

Police said it does not appear that he left behind a suicide note.

The former dentist and aspiring screenwriter had several cosmetic procedures, rendering him virtually unrecognizable from the way he looked since the Jackson matter, a family source said.

Chandler regularly self-administered botox and cosmetic facial fullers.

'He was a handsomer version of Rob Lowe. That's how drop-dead handsome he was [after the plastic surgeries],'' the source said.

In the early 1990s, Chandler reported Jackson to the authorities in both Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, claiming the King of Pop molested his son, who was just 13 at the time.

Both launched investigations into the allegations and convened a grand jury to look into the sex abuse charges.

The boy and and his father also brought a civil suit against Jacko.

Jackson reportedly settled the case for $15 million.

The boy, now 29, has never spoken publicly about the case. In recent years, Jordan has reconnected with his mother — about the same time he and dad Evan had a massive falling out, sources said.

Jordan Chandler claimed his dad attacked him with a dumbbell weight and got a restraining order against his pop in fall 2006."

A little family tension living with the massive lies and guilt for ruining a man's life with false charges can lend itself to lots of infightiing and distrust if not outright bribery amongst one another.....just a couple thoughts on who I and others had pegged for a real POS a long time ago....He, Evan Chandler should have some fun rotting in hell for offing himself and ruining the lives of many many others..

32 Years Ago Today Freebirds Fell From The Sky

For those unaware some quick history:
Lynyrd Skynyrd (pronounced /ˌlɛnərd ˈskɪnərd/ LEN-ərd-SKIN-ərd)[1][2] is an American rock band, formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1964. The band became prominent in the Southern United States in 1973, and rose to worldwide recognition before three members and one road crew member died in an airplane crash in 1977, including lead vocalist and primary songwriter Ronnie Van Zant. The band reformed in 1987 for a reunion tour with Ronnie's younger brother Johnny Van Zant as the frontman and continues to record music today. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 13, 2006.  read more here
The band, which happened to have always been my favorite next to Pink Floyd to play and perform as a lifelong garage band guitarist and musician, continues onward today even after losing two original members of the band just this year alone not to mention the 5 or 6 I think others since '77's crash! :(

They were actually on Fox and Friends yesterday morning if you didn't see it playing their old stalwarts in the plaza outside promoting their new "God and Guns" CD,  and have also recently jammed with famous bass playing politico Mike Huckabee on his Saturday Fox show a few weeks ago as well.

Almost like their on Fox's payroll lately lol, and in this video they crank out Sweet Home Alabama in front of the biggest crowd I've seen on this show in the morning ever..

As if that wasn't enough staying busy,  they are also headlining the 2010 Sean Hannity Freedom Concert series it was announced a week ago, so they're hopefully not going away any time soon as their heart and soul did that sad day along with other members who were killed in that infamous overnight swamp plane crash 22 years ago on October 20th, 1977.

Here's the video of that show announcement from last weekend I believe..

This is how it was reported in the newspapers that day in Macomb Miss. when the Southern Rock and Roll music died for a time at least that sad night.

Much more from the website in which I culled that newsclip can be found here, it's awesome and filled with great band info if you're a Skynyrd fan or not.

This angle might be a little gory,  but I include this page as it contains the names and locations of burial for all the members who died that day, Allen Collins who passed on later, bassist Leon Wilkerson last year along with his replacement along with original member and super pianist Billy Powell, again, earlier this year.

This is the art from their new cd called  ...

Springsteen Performs "Born To Run Album" Live For 2nd Time Ever In Chicago Sunday (video)

That's according to this man from the Trib video below.....I personally gave up on Springsteen early on in the Bush years, and after that I'll never be a fan again.. although when the music comes on the radio or wherever, I'll still listen to it occasionally, due to it's being completely intertwined with my high school day memories...

Anyways.. this is a Chicago reviewer from the show last night at Chicago's United Center, AKA the House that Jordan built, and this monster show comes on the heels of two U2 shows here last weekend as well...

Michael Jackson rehearsing 'Human Nature' (video)

I'm not or wasn't a huge Jackson fan but his music was great and like Springsteen's in another post up here today intertwined with my high school and college pop culture in the 80's, and this little clip leaked out from his pre death rehearsals is pretty interesting in the least.....

He doesn't look "near death" and looks like he had many years ahead ....but looks can be deceiving indeed..however, "Check it out -- he was still in fine voice" ...

Shiny Objects: "To stoke the fires for next month's big-screen release of 'This Is It' -- the feature film compilation of footage from Michael Jackson's final tour rehearsals -- Sony has slipped out a snippet of footage.

It's not quite a minute of Michael, running through the blocking for the song 'Human Nature' from his hit 'Thriller' album. more

This Was Good This Morning....Billy Ray Cyrus on Fox And Friends

About the freedom concerts with Sean Hannity and a special Facebook promotion with Hellman's which I've already done a couple times where you build virtual sandwiches and they match whatever you do with 7 lunches for the hungry people out there....a good thing and easy to do...

Go there by clicking here...

And no matter what you think about this guy and his musical ability he sure knows how to raise musicians and superstars so he sure the hellman's must be doing many things right out there as his entire summer has been devoted to charity concerts and he's a good man and a great American in this man's view.....

Here's another from the show last night (Hannity's America) that features the concerts and some behind the scenes stuff... If they ever come to Chicago, liberal loonland I'll be there in a heartbeat next year.....
