Local Boy Done Good Wins Idol...Local Boy No More.. lol

Won't be seeing Mr DeWyze hanging around Mt Prospect for too much longer after his out of nowhere rise from obscurity to 'made for music industry' rock star!

Good luck to him with this. He had 40,000 people show up last week to a concert that was only supposed to be three songs and he just kept playing. Ready to rock and roll right out of the paint store he was working in down the street here.

This was his "day" here in a video from the local neighborhood Paper, The Daily Herald some of it taken on the very street I live on last week a couple miles down the road...

Chicago Tribune.com Now the real contest begins: Which of the “American Idol” finalists is best suited for the musical long haul?

Lee DeWyze won the “American Idol” voting Wednesday in what host Ryan Seacrest described as a tight race over Crystal Bowersox. But it shouldn’t have been close. DeWyze is an affable, impossible-to-dislike underdog. But Bowersox is this year’s most intriguing “Idol” talent, the singer with the most potential to blossom into a
career artist

Bowersox projects as a head-strong singer-songwriter with a gritty voice and an innate toughness that could translate into a Melissa Etheridge-style career that straddles rock and folk, with a touch of soul.

DeWyze has further to go in terms of establishing himself as a genuine artist once untethered from the “Idol” machine. When he needed to project a bigger, more assertive personality in Tuesday’s final performances, he instead shrunk from the challenge.

The suburban Mt. Prospect native didn’t do himself any favors by wrestling with R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts” and performing a version of Paul Simon’s “The Boxer” just respectful enough to be dull. Even on U2’s “Beautiful Day,” he never quite got swept up in the song as strings swirled around him and drums tried to coax out his inner Bono. DeWyze didn’t seem nearly as excited about this performance as his growing fan base has been about him. continued

Restaurant SuperDawg hangs "Dawgs" on new drive-in outpost's roof

Anyhow locals know this place used to attract the cool cars back in the days of drive in's which even continued through my high school days in the early eighties and continues to some extent in certain segmento's of the community if you comprende amigo...

Maurie and Flaurie the dancing hotdogs from the movie previews ....yes that's them....

The finishing touches were put on a new location Thursday for a famous Chicago area drive-in.

ABC 7's news partner The Daily Herald shared photos of the two giant hot dog statues as they were being put on the roof of Superdawg's Wheeling location.

The 15-foot tall "Maurie" and "Flaurie" statues weigh more than 500 pounds each and were installed with extra care.

The Wheeling location opened in January and its owners said the iconic drive-in felt naked without its famous mascots. (Copyright ©2010 WLS-TV/DT.abc7chicago.com All Rights Reserved.)

Local Man Lee DeWyze In American Idol Top 3, Party Friday

I really don't follow American Idol but have been recently as this kid is from Mount Prospect, the next township over, and tomorrow, Friday,  they're having one of these local party's / concerts I guess which you see on the show when the people win or advance ....and is taking place at the down the street and  world renowned Arlington Race track.

This thing sold out in a couple hours and will involve a day long celebration and thousands of local's who all of a sudden become this talented man's best friends. That is, right up until he either gets knocked out or wins and then forgets REAL QUICK were he comes from....lol..

I've never heard the name before but we'll be hearing it now...
Get ready, Mount Prospect.

After Wednesday's "American Idol" vote, Lee DeWyze is officially one of the top three contestants, which means on Friday, his hometown will be hosting a daylong celebration and thousands of DeWyze fans.
After Ryan Seacrest announced he made the cut, DeWyze crossed the Idol stage, hugged his parents, Lee Sr. and Kathy and whispered "I love you guys."

Casey James and Crystal Bowersox join DeWyze in the top three and will get hometown parades of their own Friday. James, 27, will head home to Fort Worth, Texas while Bowersox, 24, will fly off to Ellison, Ohio.
Michael "Big Mike" Lynche isn't as lucky. Although the judges used their only save to rescue the soulful 26-year-old personal trainer and father from Queens, N.Y., in April, he was voted off the show Wednesday night.
Before the results were announced, Seacrest asked the final four what they thought after watching footage of past hometown celebrations, which include parades and throngs of screaming fans.

"I want that to be me," said DeWyze. "I want the chance to say thank you to all the people who have been so supportive and to sit in my parents' living room and have a conversation without any cameras."  continued at the Daily Herald

Misguided Chicago North Suburban Highland Park High Loons scrap team trip to Arizona

What misguided idiots these people are a couple townships over from here, where they are far more concerned about their "High Society" image than they are about their students,  you can bet.

And furthermore, we now have yet another reason as if we already don't have enough, the first thing that needs to be done immediately after November is indeed  the second thing on the "List of things Americans need to do" and that is to "dismantle teachers unions starting yesterday, and now".

These people couldn't get jobs anywhere but the educational system as the old saying goes "those who can, do, and those who cannot "teach" ". An industry that's  long been hijacked from the citizenry at large who fronts the bills for the now outrageous groups which are run and act more like Soviet Union aged Indoctrination Mills than anything, as our terribly dumbed down society can attest.

So, this school takes my tax dollars and now they're going to meet me and ten thousand other local citizens enraged by this moronic decision they made and when we get done these girls will be going to Arizona you can bet Obama's skinny Kenyan backside..

say they disagree with the district's decision. (Heather Charles / Tribune)
Reveling in its first conference championship in 26 years, the Highland Park High School girls varsity basketball team has been selling cookies for months to raise funds for a tournament in Arizona. But those hoop dreams were dashed when players learned they couldn't go because of that state's new crackdown on illegal immigrants.

Safety concerns partly fueled the decision, but the trip also "would not be aligned with our beliefs and values," said District 113 Assistant Superintendent Suzan Hebson. That explanation, though, smacks of political protest to parents upset by the decision.

The news, which was broken to the team Monday by coach Jolie Bechtel, comes as critics of Arizona's controversial law call on professional athletes and others to boycott the state.
Last month a New York congressman asked Major League Baseball to pull next year's All-Star Game from Phoenix, and protesters recently picketed Wrigley Field when the Arizona Diamondbacks played the Cubs.
But tossing a high school team into the heated debate has left parents and players baffled and angry.

"Why are we mixing politics and a basketball tournament?" said Michael Evans, whose daughter Lauren is a junior on the team. "It's outrageous that they're doing this under the guise of safety."

Lauren Evans said she thought the concern was probably that one of the players could get stopped and questioned.

"It shouldn't be a problem," she said. "I don't think it makes much sense. We shouldn't be a threat. We just want to play basketball."   continued here
Administrative Imbeciles, as with decision making from the ADULTS in that place I'd rather trust the children to run the place better.

The people involved in this decision should be fired but won't and once again we owe that to the Unions so it's time to bust their asses as they're far far too powerful and are ruining the nation right at it's core.

Chicago CTA service restored after bomb threat

Some local news from the so called land of Obama.....he, Daley and their liberal dem cronies sure left this city in great shape ....on Michigan ave and in the Loop, that's about it....

Chicago Breaking News: "The Chicago Transit Authority's Red Line service has been restored after a bomb threat halted train service early Saturday and caused the evacuation of at least one train while police investigated.

At about 12:20 a.m., a train was delayed at the Harrison stop at 608 S. State Street after an unidentified man got on the CTA intercom at the station and said he had left a bomb on the train, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.

Passengers were evacuated from the train and directed toward the Green Line stop at Lake Street, said a Tribune reporter who was riding the Red Line train.

All trains, northbound and southbound on the Red Line tracks were stopped while police investigated, Alfaro said. Police swept the train and found no device, Alfaro said.

As of 2:10 a.m., all services had been restored, Alfaro said."
