We all sat last week hearing news of a mining accident with trapped miners in China and then we hear with some relief that 115 miners were found and removed from the mine after a remarkable number of days following the deadly accident with officials finding only 5 dead after the mine unexpectedly filled with water.
Wonderful news except now they claim they cant reach some 33 miners still trapped there so the news isn't exactly as good as all had hoped.
However, then we then awaken today to the news of a mining accident here in W VA, yesterday afternoon, and right out of the box it turns out already 25 are reported dead with 4 miners trapped apparently, according to reports I've seen and read here first thing Tuesday am.
One of the miners was retiring in just 5 freaking weeks.

Major Earthquake Hits Haiti With Widespread Damage and Tsunami Watch
ABC News: "A major earthquake struck just off the coast of Haiti late this afternoon, reportedly causing extensive damage in the capital of Port-au-Prince, and one aid worker said 'there must be thousands of people dead.'
The quake had a magnitude of 7.0 according to the U.S. Geological Survey, and was centered just 10 miles from Port-au-Prince.
The center was also relatively shallow, less than 10 miles below ground, raising the risk of damage.
Karel Zelenka, a Catholic Relief Services representative in Port-au-Prince, told U.S. colleagues before phone service failed that 'there must be thousands of people dead,' a spokeswoman for the aid group told The Associated Press.

As the addition to that headline says, this is absolutely unbelievable that this crash seems now to be due solely to the fact a traffic controller was yappin' away to his girlfriend while on the job and some other crazy circumstances that lead to this preventable tragedy.
"WASHINGTON - The air traffic controller at Teterboro Airport was on the phone with his girlfriend during the mid-air collision over the Hudson River.
His supervisor had wandered off and wasn't even in the tower.
Horrified officials called their actions "unacceptable," even though they were not blamed for Saturday's crash.
Both controllers - who were not immediately identified - have been suspended and will likely be fired. Crash probes by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration revealed the two controllers seriously deviated from their assignments at the time of the collision.
Nine people died when a single-engine Piper plane with three aboard clipped a Liberty Helicopters sightseeing chopper carrying a pilot and five Italian tourists. Both aircraft plummeted into the river.
The NTSB and FAA discovered the controller lapses by listening to audio recordings from the Teterboro tower.
"We learned that the controller handling the Piper flight was involved in apparently inappropriate conversations on the telephone at the time of the accident," FAA Administrator Randy Babbitt said.
"We also learned that the supervisor was not present in the [tower] building as required."
Babbitt said, "We have no reason to believe at this time that these actions contributed to the accident" but he called the laxness unacceptable.
"We have placed the employees on administrative leave and have begun disciplinary proceedings," he said.
Air traffic control transcripts indicated no problems in the exchange between controllers at the New Jersey airport and the plane's pilot, Steven Altman, who was heading for Ocean City, N.J.
The controller gave Altman two choices of route, and he chose a straight shot down the Hudson.
NTSB chairwoman Debbie Hersman has said the controller told Altman to switch his radio over to the Newark tower - and gave the correct frequency - but Newark never made contact.
The controller was also on a separate line with his girlfriend.
"The handoff was never made," an aviation source said.
Mayor Bloomberg was alarmed by the development.
"If true, this is an unacceptable breach of the trust we put in those who watch the city's sky," he said.
New clues to the crash may be contained in a dramatic tourist video of the tragedy that surfaced Thursday on NBC News.
The footage, taken from a boat on the river, shows Altman desperately trying to lift his left wing to avoid hitting the helicopter.
Meanwhile, the remains of the five Italian tourists were welcomed home to Bologna by a large, emotional crowd of friends, relatives and mourners.

Gunman shoots, kills, guard at Holocaust Museum: "(AP) - An elderly gunman opened fire with a rifle inside the crowded U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum on Wednesday, killing a security guard before being shot. This young man named Bryan Webb was killed overnight in a terrible high speed car crash resulting in the car flipping over several times at over 100 mph according to reports coming from WTMJ 620 again out of Wisconsin, where the students attended Wisconsin Lutheran High and the young Webb was a standout football running back.
One of the passengers is in stable condition in the ICU. The other person's condition is not known, but school leaders believe he will survive.
Obviously not the kind of start to a Memorial day weekend this rural Wisconsin community was looking for as it's always sad to see our young teens lose their lives in a second's notice as is so often the case with car crashes among the young.
Sadly this is something that's been happening generation after generation in America including mine almost 30 years ago, when and where we lost a number of students and great friends to car crashes both drug and alcohol related and not in every year of my high school attendance between '79-'83.
There's no indication anything of a nefarious nature was involved in the crash other than the ridiculously high rate of speed the kids were traveling, and with the young driver logging only 6 months of licensed driving under his belt, he sure had a lot to learn and will sadly never be given the chance.
We in Illinois have increased the ages for licensed teen drivers getting them gradual exposure to the dangers and pleasures of driving a car in today's high speed and distraction filled society coupled with over populated roadways from the once 16 year full privilege license I received in 1982 to the graduated system now in place which I have to say is one of the few smart things to come out of Springfield in my lifetime which can be examined in detail at the IL secretary of state website here.
Wisconsin has no special rules or regulations as do we, and this may be looked at more intensely by other states as more and more kids' lives are ended unexpectedly and obviously unnecessarily as was this young man's in today's busy and distracting driving environment for adults and teens alike, with the use of cell phones and texting becoming far too common and dangerous for drivers of cars today
And frankly I wouldn't be shocked to find that one or more of these activities had an impact on this terrible tragedy again ending the life of 16 year old Bryan Webb and possibly others on a weekend we're supposed to be remembering those who gave their lives for our freedoms, not burying and eulogizing young teens who haven't even experienced any of them as adults before being taken away from this life.

That's according to his account as indicated in this stranger than strange story out of Beijing as a man walking by a suicide jumper standing on a ledge looking for sympathy I guess sure didn't get any from this dude who simply walked by, shook the guy's hand and pushed him off the ledge of the bridge. How funny is that?
Excuse me for laughing but you know what? I think that's pretty darn funny myself considering the guy survived maybe this guy inadvertently saved his life while trying to give him the helping hand ending it. However the "victim only fell 26 feet onto an air cushion already set up to catch the guy.
In case any of you are interested, my feelings on suicide are basically this; anyone who wants to end their life should just go right ahead and do so, that leaves more room for those out here who are thankful to be alive, Just please do make sure you don't take any innocent people with you on your way out and don't leave a mess for others to clean up after you, use pills is all I ask.

Chen fell 26 feet (8 meters) onto a partially inflated emergency air cushion laid out by authorities and survived, suffering spine and elbow injuries, the official Xinhua News Agency said Saturday.
The passer-by, 66-year-old Lai Jiansheng, had been fed up with what he called Chen's 'selfish activity,' Xinhua said. Traffic around the Haizhu bridge in the city of Guangzhou had been backed up for five hours and police had cordoned off the area.""I pushed him off because jumpers like Chen are very selfish. Their action violates a lot of public interest," Lai was quoted as saying by Xinhua. "They do not really dare to kill themselves. Instead, they just want to raise the relevant government authorities' attention to their appeals."
Xinhua said Lai was "taken away by police" but did not elaborate.
A police officer who answered the telephone Saturday at a station close to the bridge confirmed the incident and said it was under investigation. He refused to give any other details and hung up.
According to Xinhua, Chen wanted to kill himself because he had accrued 2 million yuan ($290,000) in debt from a failed construction project.

SECOND CAR CRASH IN THREE DAYS FOR FILM CREW - New York Post: "The cast and crew of a Nic Cage movie filming in Midtown relived a nightmare early today when -- for the second time in three days -- a car jumped the curb and injured eight people, police said.
This time, a car being driven by someone not associated with the film flew onto the sidewalk, injuring members of the crew working on the set of 'The Sorcerer's Apprentice.'

Certainly a miraculous surgery by even being accomplished without a doubt, and whether or not the patient is or isn't happy with the results is her business, but she has been compelled to show her new face to the world and shed much light on how and why she became the world's very first successful facial transplant patient a little over a year ago.
One would imagine the results here would speak for themselves as below the pictures represent her before and after the terrible incident;

then on the left is Ms. Culp after her estranged husband shot her in the face point black with a 12 guage shotgun in a double failed suicide murder attempt by he about four years ago, and finally on the lower right as she looks today, a year after her groundbreaking surgery.
You can see and hear Ms Culp, who was also left blind and endured over twenty surgeries before her trip to the Cleveland Clinic for the facial rebuilding surgery, in this video from 2004 after her surviving the attack.

"CLEVELAND (AP) - When Connie Culp heard a little kid call her a monster because of the shotgun blast that left her face horribly disfigured, she pulled out her driver's license to show the child what she used to look like. Years later, as the nation's first face transplant recipient, she's stepped forward to show the rest of the world what she looks like now.

"I guess I'm the one you came to see today," the 46-year-old Ohio woman said at a news conference at the Cleveland Clinic, where the groundbreaking operation was performed. But "I think it's more important that you focus on the donor family that made it so I could have this person's face." Until Tuesday, Culp's identity and how she came to be disfigured were a secret.
Culp's husband, Thomas, shot her in 2004, then turned the gun on himself. He went to prison for seven years. His wife was left clinging to life. The blast shattered her nose, cheeks, the roof of her mouth and an eye. Hundreds of fragments of shotgun pellet and bone splinters were embedded in her face. She needed a tube into her windpipe to breathe. Only her upper eyelids, forehead, lower lip and chin were left.
A plastic surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Risal Djohan, got a look at her injuries two months later. "He told me he didn't think, he wasn't sure, if he could fix me, but he'd try," Culp recalled.
She endured 30 operations to try to fix her face. Doctors took parts of her ribs to make cheekbones and fashioned an upper jaw from one of her leg bones. She had countless skin grafts from her thighs. Still, she was left unable to eat solid food, breathe on her own, or smell.
Then, on Dec. 10, in a 22-hour operation, Dr. Maria Siemionow led a team of doctors who replaced 80 percent of Culp's face with bone, muscles, nerves, skin and blood vessels from another woman who had just died. It was the fourth face transplant in the world, though the others were not as extensive.
"Here I am, five years later. He did what he said - I got me my nose," Culp said of Djohan, laughing.
In January, she was able to eat pizza, chicken and hamburgers for the first time in years. She loves to have cookies with a cup of coffee, Siemionow said.
On NBC's "Today" program Wednesday morning, Siemionow described the operation as a last resort.
"There was really an entire mid-face missing and there was no way to reconstruct with conventional means," the lead surgeon said.
No information has been released about the donor or how she died, but her family members were moved when they saw before-and-after pictures of Culp, Siemionow said.
Culp said she wants to help foster acceptance of those who have suffered burns and other disfiguring injuries.
"When somebody has a disfigurement and don't look as pretty as you do, don't judge them, because you never know what happened to them," she said. "Don't judge people who don't look the same as you do. Because you never know. One day it might be all taken away."
It's a role she has already practiced, said clinic psychiatrist Dr. Kathy Coffman.
Once while shopping, she heard a little kid say, 'You said there were no real monsters, Mommy, and there's one right there,'" Coffman said. Culp stopped and said, "I'm not a monster. I'm a person who was shot," and pulled out her driver's license to show the child what she used to look like, the psychiatrist said.
Culp, who is from the small town of Unionport, near the Pennsylvania line, told her doctors she just wants to blend back into society. She has a son and a daughter who live near her, and two preschooler grandsons. Before she was shot, she and her husband ran a painting and contracting business, and she did everything from hanging drywall to a little plumbing, Coffman said.
Culp left the hospital Feb. 5 and has returned for periodic follow-up care. She has suffered only one mild rejection episode that was controlled with a single dose of steroid medicines, her doctors said. She must take immune-suppressing drugs for the rest of her life, but her dosage has been greatly reduced and she needs only a few pills a day.
The clinic expects to absorb the cost of the transplant because it was experimental, doctors said. Siemionow estimated it at $250,000 to $300,000. That is less than the $1 million that other surgeons estimate it costs them to treat other severely disfigured people through dozens of separate operations, she said.
Also at the Cleveland Clinic is Charla Nash of Stamford, Conn., who was attacked by a friend's chimpanzee in February. She lost her hands, nose, lips and eyelids, and will be blind, doctors said. Clinic officials said it is premature to discuss the possibility of a face transplant for her.
In April, doctors at Harvard-affiliated Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston performed the nation's second face transplant, on a man disfigured in a freak accident. Hollywood gone wild caused this near deadly scene to occur in New York last night
A Hollywood which nowadays mostly consists of seeing which movie director and producer can smash and blow up the most expensive shit in the shortest amount of time, which is why I haven't visited a movie theater in years with the exception of Passion of Christ and this recent goofy American Carol which was mostly a disappointment, but my supporting conservative people in Hollywood the few there are with the balls to admit it.
Stunt Driver Wrecks Ferrari In Times Square -"A car chase being filmed in New York's Times Square went horribly wrong when a stunt driver in a Ferrari F430 lost control and skidded onto a sidewalk filled with pedestrians."
Two people received minor injuries as a result of the freak accident. One individual was struck by a falling electrical pole while the other was smacked by the rear quarter panel of the F430 as it crashed into a Sbarro's restaurant. The car itself only appeared to have moderate front end damage and the stunt driver walked away unscathed.
The chase was being filmed for an upcoming Disney movie called "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" which stars Nicolas Cage. While little is known about movie, its plot seems to revolve around sorcerer Balthazar Blake's (Cage) attempt to find an apprentice in New York City.

I'm opting for the latter on this deal as there's got to be a million reasons why this woman would be claiming something like this so far after the fact, especially in the media mad world of which we live in today and these reasons mostly look like this:

FOXNews.com - US News: "SAN FRANCISCO SAN FRANCISCO — A Southern California woman said Wednesday that her late father was the infamous Zodiac killer who terrorized the San Francisco Bay area four decades ago.
San Francisco homicide investigators said they will check into the information from Deborah Perez, who said her father, Guy Ward Hendrickson, killed at least two of the known victims 40 years ago.
Sgt. Lyn Tomioka said the investigation into the 1969 death of San Francisco taxi driver Paul Lee Stine related to the Zodiac killer remains ongoing.
"We get a significant number of calls a year. We will look into whatever evidence that is presented to us," Tomioka said about the case that also inspired a hit movie in 2007.
During a frenzied news conference outside the San Francisco Chronicle on Wednesday, Perez, of Corona, California, said she has given police what she believes are Stine's eyeglasses and letters she wrote — some to the newspaper — on her father's behalf about the crimes.
Perez claims she was a naive 7-year-old tagging along with her father during the killings.
"He told me he was sick, and all I wanted to do was help my dad," said Perez, who came to her conclusion about two years ago. "He kept telling me he was sick and he killed many, many people. I had no idea."
No 7 year old is that stupid, but then again some human stupidity is hard to harness and understand.
The self-described Zodiac killer is blamed for at least five murders in 1968 and 1969. He was never caught, though many believe he was Arthur Leigh Allen, a convicted child molester who died in 1992.
Hendrickson, a carpenter with six children, died in 1983 from cancer.
Perez said she could not keep her father's secrets any longer.

Saw this on Greta 's show just a few minutes ago.....During the beginning take note of the guy thats sitting on the back of the rig who I think was the original truck driver who was truckjacked..
They actually cut a piece from this where the truck drives over a car...this gets hairiest at the end if you wanna see the most action go 3/4 the way to the end.

Here's video of the major crashes that took place over the weekend at Talledaga speedway in which there was much damage but fortunately no deaths, although 7 fans were injured in the worst crash involving Carl Edwards.
NASCAR driver Carl Edwards is in good shape after a fiery crash at NASCAR’s Talladega Speedway Sunday, but several fans are less lucky. The crash sent wreckage flying into the stand, injuring seven spectators and sending two to the hospital.
Carl Edwards’ crash occurred in the final lap of Sunday’s Sprint Cup Series race at the Talladega Speedway. Edwards’ car actually flipped 15 feet into the air in the collision, also involving drivers Brad Keselowski and Dale Earnhardt Jr

Get these vets some medals for figuring this tough call out..I'm pretty sure the line on all the stables full of horses would drop dead before the starting gate must've paid a pretty penny or two.
Maybe they could check the guy or vet cashing in that bet for some horse poison in the back of his pickup truck.
In all seriousness though, 21 murdered horses is pretty frightening when wondering why and how something like this could or would occur.....and the first thing I think of is some terror try with noxious gas of some sort or who knows, the possibilities are not good anyway they're sliced and the outcome of this will be interesting to hear about that I'll be watching for..
"WELLINGTON, Fla. (AP) - Officials were waiting Monday for test results to find out why 21 polo horses from a Venezuelan team fell fatally ill before a match at a Florida tournament. One veterinarian said it looked like some kind of poison was to blame. The horses from the Lechuza Caracas team were being unloaded from their trailers Sunday afternoon when two collapsed and others acted dizzy and disoriented, according to the International Polo Club Palm Beach. Seven horses died at the scene and the rest while being treated elsewhere or en route to medical care.
A veterinarian who was at the scene said the tests will need to determine the trigger for what he believed was heart failure among the horses.
'Well clearly, it's an intoxication, clearly there's som" Belden said it remains to be seen "whether it's something in the environment or something that the horses were exposed to." He said the routine in the horses' stable ahead of the match was absolutely normal.
The polo grounds in Wellington, a wealthy equestrian and golfing community in central Palm Beach County, hosts the U.S. Open every year.
"It could be the water, hay, bedding. We just don't know. When we find out what it is, we will take all the necessary actions," John A. Wash, the polo club's president of club operations, told The Palm Beach Post.
Veterinarians already at the event quickly tried treating the horses, inserting intravenous lines and trying to cool them down with fans and water. Observers hung blue tarps to shield some of the horses from the crowd's view.
The match in the U.S. Open Polo Championship was postponed and an exhibition game with a substitute team was held in its place.
The carcasses of at least 14 horses were taken to a state agricultural laboratory for necropsies to learn the causes of their deaths.
In addition to those 14, seven more horses died overnight, CBS 12 television in Palm Beach reported. A veterinarian who was the scene could not immediately be reached early Monday to confirm the higher death toll.

The country is only 233 years old, and it seems to me our dates we set aside to recognize tragic events are filling up our calendars at a quicker pace than we certainly need nor definitely want.
This trend will continue until the liberal faction of our country, (who believes that inside every Muslim terrorist or rampaging immigrant is a loving, childlike human being begging to escape) realizes there are basically 2 different kinds of people in this world, good and evil, then sooner than later we will be counting the days we don't have death anniversaries because they will be far less and easier to keep track of than the days filled with grief and remembrances.
Like today when we remember that tragic and unprecedented afternoon that these two moronic kids lost in a world many of us simply cannot fathom unleashed their anger on the kids at their high school who it was later revealed didn't exactly treat these kids with the utmost respect yet didn't deserve to die in both random and calculated fashion as they all did..
Guns aren't the problem it's the breakdown of the American family by the liberals and homosexuals raising children in self created problematic environments by pretending and legislating normalcy for their abnormal behaviors and lifestyles that in turn ruin the lives of kids who have a rough enough times in entirely normal family environments if there really is such a thing as this.
As Virginia Tech's similarly deadly tragedy and others along the way have proved the free gun zone turns these areas into nothing less than a carnival like shooting gallery and the students are the sitting ducks on a pond for these crazed killers to take out.
Arm the teachers and in both these cases the children dead today would certainly be less than those who were killed if not all alive any intellectually honest person would admit that an armed citizenry leads to one thing and one thing only, less violent crime.
That however is an argument for another day as this one is spent mourning the murdered children that April 20th afternoon 13 year ago today, may God rest their poor souls and their loved ones still mourning their losses as are we to a much lesser level but no less heartfelt
