First The Sox, Now The Cubs Opener Snowed Out? Damn Global Warming...

It's raining in the city but 12 miles north at my office it's raining but 33 degrees and looks like snow 1/2 before game time, so we'll have to see if they suffer the same home fate as the White Sox did a week ago, that being a Chicago Climate Change or Global Warming special.

Well things stayed well enough to continue the game after all and the Cubs came away with a bone chilling win in which pitcher threw a no hitter through 7 innings in football weather leading the Cubs to 3-0 home opening win

After a 1-hour, 12-minute delay and considerable doubt early today about whether the game would even be played, Lilly made the Rockies wish they never showed up.

Cubs lefty Ted Lilly rebounded from a four-homer season debut to take a no-hitter against the Colorado Rockies into the seventh inning today in the Cubs' rain-delayed home opener at Wrigley Field. But with two outs in the seventh, the Rockies' Garrett Atkins grounded a 1-0 pitch through the left side of the infield for a single.

As for the Sox they too played at home today in this global warming celebration and also came away with a 10-6 win that included a baseball first, two players reaching the 300 homer plateau in the same inning with back to back home runs.....which after yesterday's Hawks win over the Detroit Red Wings makes it Chicago 2 Detroit 0 for the week which also doesn't happen too often...
